Denounce Torture: Stop it now!
Ad Campaign
Amnesty International USA has created an ad campaign that specifically addresses the issue of torture within the context of the U.S. war on terror. If you believe, as we do, that torture is a tool of terror rather than a means to end it, then please print, post and email the ads below to spread the word.

The U.S. has learned the benefits
of outsourcing
certain jobs. Torture, for example.
The United States has a practice called Extraordinary Rendition. Without being charged with any crime, people are abducted and sent to foreign countries like Jordan and Egypt, where they are interrogated in torture cells. They are kept hidden, denied legal counsel, and brutalized, sometimes for years.
Extraordinary Rendition is a betrayal of America’s best values and a violation of our laws. If we want our laws and values to survive for our children, then we must stand up for them now. Please tell your representatives in Congress you want an independent commission to investigate, demand accountability at all levels, and prevent further abuse. Contact them and find out more at amnestyusa.org.

Torture has no place on
American soil.
That’s why we have it done in Egypt.

Once the photos were released,
the supervisors at Abu Ghraib
obviously couldn’t
keep their jobs. So they were promoted.
After the shocking photographs from Abu Ghraib prison were publicized, a few low-ranking personnel were courtmartialed. The people in charge were not. Civilian and military leaders authorized torture, then let their troops take the fall alone. This is a betrayal of America’s best values and a violation of our laws.
